I have just purchased, downloaded and devoured
Dylan Loh's new Clickbank e-book:

Tracking and Testing - the Solution to Attracting More Visitors

Every serious online business owner eats, sleeps and breaths targeted
traffic to their website. They spend the most money and time trying
to attract first-time visitors to their sites in hopes of generating new
sales and subscribers. But, believe it or not, it’s easier to increase
your income by simply selling more of the visitors you already get
than trying to chase down more traffic.

The solution? Tracking & testing! Probably the most overlooked and
underutilized, but certainly the most powerful strategy for increasing
sales and opt-in subscriptions. If you spend any time or money on
advertising, you must start testing and tracking. Simply put,
“tracking” means you measure the effectiveness of each individual
advertising source you use to promote your business.

For example, if you advertise in email newsletters, you should know
how effective each newsletter ad rates compared to all the others in
terms of sales and subscribers generated. This enables you to know
whether an ad makes or loses money. Testing means you constantly
look for ways to improve your ads in small, incremental amounts
that add up over time.

The most common (and effective) tests you can run are A-B split
tests, which pit two variables against each other to determine
which converts more lookers into buyers. Split testing headlines,
price points, and guarantee periods make, from my experience,
the best places to start testing.

The reason testing and tracking can double your profits (or more)
lies in the power of small, incremental improvements. Lets say,
for example, you decide to do a series of split tests on a website
that currently converts 1 in every 100 visitors (1% conversion).

You test, headline, price, guarantee and a payment plan. If each
of the 4 tests yields a .25% increase in conversion, you would not
see an increase in sales to 2% (4x.25%), but actually an increase
to almost 2.5% since each improvement builds on the last!

The most basic tool in testing and tracking revolves around the
use of advertising link tracker software. These tools measure
the number of clicks on individual advertisements (text links,
banners, pay-per-click ads, etc) and then measure sales or
subscriptions generated as a result.

You get two choices with link trackers: a hosted service or
software you install on your own server. A hosted service offers
the advantage of easy setup and use. Most of the time you just
sign up for the service, enter the link you want to track, get your
tracking code, and you’re off to the races.

The disadvantage of a hosted service is that, if it gets abused,
using the URL of the service in your links can get your emails
blocked or your pages banned by search engines. The
advantage of hosting the software on your own server is that
you maintain a higher degree of technical control and can
avoid the banning issues. The main disadvantage of hosting
it yourself involves the fact that you really don’t have anyone
to call for help if something goes wrong.

One of the most popular hosted link trackers online is
HyperTracker.com, though I’ve not used the service.
My favorite link tracker is actually part of an integrated
e-commerce system at http://www.MysiteSales.com.
His service enables you to track your sales and subscriptions
made through the shopping cart.

Two options for software you install on your own server are
Dynatracker.com and ProAnalyzer.com. Both provide decent
link tracking, though no system I’ve tested provides 100%
accurate results. But, with that said, failure to test means
you’re leaving money on the table by wasting visitors you
could otherwise convert to buyers with basic effort at
improving your sales messages.

Building my home income business

About 12 months ago I joined the
Home Income Team to build my internet
business.

It is only recently that I have come to realise
the incredible value of this free program.

There are not many online programs around where
you can earn money even as a free member.

The Home Income Team builds my lists, my
downlines and my income. So it is essentially a
downline builder and list builder.

It enables me to build my downlines in traffic
exchanges, other downline building programs and
various marketing programs.

In addition to the free programs I can promote,
I can also build downlines in programs such as
GDI, Better Universe, Success University, Traffic
Wave and Empowerism. All this for just promoting
one program, the Home Income Team.

What I find great about HIT is that I do not have
to join any of the paid programs and I can still
earn an income. I can, however, promote some

Empowerism.

So my team grows, my list grows, my downline grows
and my income expands.

I can then use the added income to pay for marketing
in ezines or Adwords for example and grow my Home
Income Team even further. Alternatively, I can join
more of the paid programs sponsored by HIT and
increase my income even further as people in my
downline join these programs.

I used to look with envy at those websites that
showed the multiple daily emails with "someone has
joined your downline in..", "you have received
payment for." Now it is happening to me.

When someone joins HIT below me they will join
multiple programs and I get the benefit.

My job then is to coach them and help them to
do likewise...and I enjoy doing this!

And so it all grows and I have a real, sustainable,
online business thanks to the generosity of Michael
Cobb, the innovative creator of the Home Income

I have noticed that the strong HIT community
spirit flows from his personal generosity. For
example, the One Time Offer (OTO) made to new
members I recruit generates an income

I feel much more confident about my internet
business now as I watch my downlines growing
daily...and as I recruit a new HIT member
every day with minimal effort.

I am going to try to catch up to my HIT sponsor who
already has over 700 downline members... I am
sure he does not have to surf the traffic
exchanges anymore because of the traffic credits
he must be accumlating from his downlines.

You regularly hear about the physical benefits of walking. It strengthens your bones, your muscles and your heart and helps to control your weight. It stimulates the systems of your body that are necessary for optimum effectiveness, e.g. your cardiovascular, immune and respiratory systems. Research has shown that walking can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, bowel cancer, strokes, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

Walking also has psychological benefits for you. It is mood-enhancing and can help combat depression. It can build stamina, confidence and energy and help to reduce the risk of stress and anxiety.

You will often hear that you should go for a walk to clear your head, empty the clutter from your mind or remove negative thoughts.

Walking, however, can fill your mind – through walking you can create new ideas, gain new insights, and develop new perspectives. It can give you the stimulus and inspiration to move up to another level in your Internet business.

Recent research has shown that physical activity, such as walking, can help ward off Alzheimer’s disease. It has this effect because walking, and other physical activities, create new connections in your brain.

So when you walk you are creating new physical connections in your brain that in turn help you to develop new ideas, insights and understanding. When you walk you start to see connections between things that before seemed quite discrete or separate.

Often the solution to growth of your Internet business and income is right before your eyes, looking you in the face – you just can’t see it!

Walking gives a clarity of vision and insight that puts things in a new light – even things that you have seen everyday.

During my research this week, I came across an ezine with a subject line that read, 'Stick with One Guru Guidance'. I fully expected that the title was crafted with shock value simply to grab the reader's attention, and expected that the article would in fact promote the opposite viewpoint.

I was wrong.

In a nutshell, the author said that although there is lots of great Internet marketing advice available, if you read the advice of too many 'gurus', you will get confused, lose focus, and that 'complete paralysis' will be the ultimate result.

My immediate reaction was to think 'how absurd'. Without a careful survey of many different viewpoints, you can't formulate your own ideas and opinions.

Although I've been marketing online for since 1997, I still spend time almost everyday researching topics relevant to my Internet businesses.

My email inbox overflows with ezines and newsletter subscriptions. I surf the Web to see what's new and what has changed in the Internet marteting realm. I regularly purchase and review newly-released products and services.

Above all, I seek advice and learn from both my mentors and those I mentor.

I can't imagine choosing between Corey, Marlon, Yanik or a dozen others to be my only eBusiness mentor. All are extraordinarily knowledgeable and each offers a unique perspective. I learn volumes from each and every one.

While I agree that the plethora of prescriptions for internet business success can be somewhat confusing, I trust that you, my dear readers, have ample intelligence to wade through and determine whose counsel is of value to you.

Basic study and organizational skills will help you avoid confusion. Take notes, keep a business diary and bookmark pertinent web pages. Categorize them in ways that make sense to you.

In summary, here's a prescription for your Internet business success. Get a balanced diet of advice by selecting information from all the major gurus. Read, digest and use that fuel to boost your business.

After all, variety IS the spice of life!

Save your Ezine from the Junk Mail Folder!

Do you know if your ezine is ending up in the Spam Junk Folders of your opt-in subscribers?

Internet Service Providers like Yahoo.com, aol.com and others are now using filtering software to block spam from reaching the email boxes of subscribers.

The downside is that the rules they apply mean that they are also blocking legitimate email that the subscribers need to operate their Internet businesses. My ISP even blocks some emails that I send to myself as tests or reminders.

These systems scan incoming mail looking for trigger words or phrases. Penalty points are awarded every time a spam trigger is found. If the total points gets too high, your email ends up in the junk folder of your opt-in subscribers.

• write a press release and use the Press Release Submitter to send my press release to over 100,000 journalists and all major media outlets

I am looking forward to producing my first press release. I know it will be easy with the press release template, the press release primer (tutorial) and the examples provided by Market-It.

After all this, I can start delving into the 84 instructional audios and interviews to learn more about some other marketing activity I might be planning. Then there are news feeds and industry stats and demographics to explore and refine my focus and approach.

I should also use the meta tag generator to improve the search engine ranking of my blog (a suggestion from the web analysis I did earlier).

I built a site for my church using Frontpage, Dreamweaver, and notepad. This was kinda my learning site and it went ok. When I wanted to start my own, I researched and found that XSite Pro would work best for me. I got it at the end of December and I love it.

Here's a response from XSitePro admin about adding Google Adsense:

XSitePro makes it very simple to add the correct Google Adsense code into any of your sites with just a couple of mouse clicks. In addition it will allow you to pick the size of the advertisement you want to run and even change the default color scheme. It really is that easy! When you're in the "Designer" tab, place the cursor where you want the ad to go, "right click" and select "Insert Google Adsense".
