Facebook – Grow Your Network and Net Worth

Mari Smith, mobile internet marketer extraordinaire, has
just released two great products about Facebook.

The first is the excellent, Facebook Fortunes, which
is available via Podclass, a Facebook application:
http://www.facebookfortunes.com

You can get Facebook Fortunes free when you purchase
Facebook Persuasion Week VIP Recordings Pack:

Mari, true to form, teaches you about Facebook by engaging
you in the Facebook community she has created – her Podclass

her related Facebook Pages. In her Facebook Fortunes,
Mari provides heaps of resources – MP3 recordings, videos and
pdf reports. She also points you to her blog posts about how to
use Twitter in association with Facebook.

I first met Mari on Facebook when she had parked her mobile
home at Yosemite National Park. She is travelling the US and
Canada with her husband and connecting with the rest of the
world as she goes. I wrote to her on Facebook about Squidoo
at the time and her energetic response was:

“Wowee zowie, you're sure the Squidoo expert - I love it!!
I just signed up for your free 7 day ecourse. I look forward to
exploring this most interesting platform.”

Many people talk about social networking in this mobile,
connected world. Mari Smith lives it! From her mobile
home she is a guest speaker on teleseminars, radio shows
and podcasts; hosts periodic teleseminars, and webinars;
develops new products; conducts classes; attends
conferences en-route and engages with the rest of the world
through Facebook, Twitter and You tube. Every day you
know where Mari is via her comments on Twitter, her
mobile lifestyle blog and photos/videos uploaded to
Facebook and YouTube.

Mari describes herself as a “Relationship Management
Consultant Specializing in No/Low Cost Buzz Marketing”.
Mari is everywhere on the Internet and her energy and
enthusiasm are infectious. She does not just write about
Facebook, she lives and breathes it – so Mari is a genuine
expert in the area. Her Facebook Fortunes is aptly subtitled,
“How to Grow Your Network and Your Net Worth on
Facebook”.

Her Why Facebook blog is a superb resource and a great
model for any blogger.

Mari Smith’s second Facebook product is the very
comprehensive resource, Facebook for Professionals.
This complete multi-media guide focuses on how to use
Facebook to strategically grow your business.

Mari explains that through her course,
Facebook for Professionals, you can "quickly and
easily raise your visibility, increase your traffic,
grow your subscriber list, find joint venture partners
and make more money.”

Mari reveals the secrets to optimizing your Facebook
activity so that it is not a time waster but a real, fast

AffSphere: Article Directory that PAYS!

Here's an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of
a new and innovative article directory that enables
you to earn both traffic and income.

Anik Singal, creator of Affiliate Classroom, has just
launched his new article directory, AffSphere, which
provides 8 ways to earn income:
http://www.affsphere.com/index.php?r=150

You can get traffic credits for reading and submitting
articles and also share in AdSense income.

AffSphere is in the Beta stage at the moment, so there
are distinct advantages and rewards for being a "first mover".

Yesterday morning I submitted 5 articles to AffSphere
and they were approved within 2 hours (...and some of
them were shown as featured articles).

Here's a great way to boost traffic to your lenses, blogs or
websites. Get in now before Anik launches the directory
with a massive campaign:
http://www.affsphere.com/index.php?r=150

I have watched Anik grow Affiliate Classroom over
the last few years to thousands of members. 35,000 people
read his weekly Affiliate Classroom newsletter. You can be
very sure that the official launch of AffSphere will be huge
...Anik does not do things by halves.

Got to go...to submit more articles to AffShere.

If you do nothing else, check out the video about
the site:
http://www.affsphere.com/index.php?r=150

See you on AffSphere...

Promo Videos: Anatomy of a Lens

I frequently receive inquiries about how to promote affiliate products
on Squidoo. So I have decided to do a series of blog posts that will
provide the "anatomy of a lens" - that is, give a break-down of the
purpose, strategy, content and structure of each lens being discussed.
This will enable readers to apply the same principles and strategies.

Video Promo Lens

Purpose

The purpose of this lens is to promote two affiliate products -
Kevin Riley's Recipe for Quick and Easy Production of
Hot Promo Videos and the related Animoto video production
program.

Introduction Module

Here I introduce the two products as the focus of the lens
and include hyperlinks. Ideally the hyperlinks should appear
"above the fold".

Review Module

This provides a brief review of both products and
shows how they are related. The review can be expanded
over time. Product reviews are frequently identified as
one of the most successful affiliate marketing strategies.
I have found that this is particularly true for Squidoo
affiliate marketing. Your review will have greater credibility
if you can demonstrate how you have successfully used the
affiliate product(s).

The "Easy-to-Use" Module

Increasingly consumers (including internet marketers)
want products/software that are easy to use, quick and
inexpensive. This module translates the video production
process into 4 easy steps. Here I am trying to show the
reader how easy it is to produce their own promo videos
from their still photos.

Illustration Modules

I have developed a number of YouTube modules -
each one dedicated to a separate video promo
created with the help of the promoted products.
These videos show how the products can be used
to create different, themed video productions; how
to link the products to a lens/website/blog; and also
provide evidence that I have actually used the
affiliate products to achieve video promos that are
uploaded to YouTube (thus adding to the credibility
of the product review). These modules in turn have
hyperlinks to the two affiliate products.

Twitter Module

I have employed the recenly added Twitter module
because many of my "tweets" (mini-blog posts)
are related to the Squidoo lenses and video promos
I create. The Twitter module provides an RSS feed
to the lens, thus giving it a regular update (if I post
to Twitter regularly and publish my lens frequently).
The added advantage of the Twitter module is that
it is very personal in orientation and shows that
there is a real person behind the recommendations.

Google Blog Search Module

This provides another source of information for the
reader, adds more keywords for the search engines
and provides another form of RSS feed that updates
the lens regularly.

Subscribe to My e-Course Module

I usually add this module to each of my lenses to
encourage subscribers to my mailing list.

Guestbook

I highly recommend the use of the guestbook module for
each lens - it creates an opportunity for two-way
communication and builds lensrank. You should tailor
the heading to the content of the lens and invite
relevant comments, discussion or debate (I have been
a bit lazy on this at the time of writing - some Squidoo
lensmasters excel at this aspect and get heaps of
comments as I do on my
Squidoo Marketing Strategies lens.

Overall

The modules are deliberately sequenced in the order in
which I want the reader to read the lens.

Twitter: are YOU twittering yet?

Well I've just started to use the program Twitter.com with good effect.

When I first heard of "Twitter", I thought this was some lightweight
social networking site.

"Twitter" is a social networking site with a simple concept that now
carries a lot of pulling power (PR7). Your messages are restricted
to a quick burst of 140 characters and these messages can be seen
by your followers (or the whole community if you so choose).

Your followers are your special group that you can communicate
with in a direct way.

I started to sit up and take notice of Twitter when I began to get
invites from top affiliate marketers to "follow them on Twitter".

To "follow", you just click on the follow button below the name
of the person whose Twitter site you have visited.

Here's my site:
http://www.twitter.com/ronpass

Why not follow me - just click on the link above and join
Twitter if you have not already done so. Then click the
FOLLOW button under my name on the above site.

I got a shock yesterday - three top internet marketers
have started to follow my "twitters" and I am not yet
following theirs.

Here's some great advantages of Twitter:

1. you can add the Twitter widget to your blog -
see the right column on this blog

2. Squidoo now has a Twitter module that you can
add to your lens.

In both these cases, you are able to display your "twitters"
as an RSS feed - leading to constant updating of your blog and/or
Squidoo lens.

Here's my Twitter module on the Squidoo Marketing lens:
http://www.squidoo.com/squidoomarketingstrategies/#module9282301

Another great benefit of Twitter is that the URLs you mention
in your 140 character message are automatically hyperlinked!

You need to use Twitter.com sensibly. If you post a lot of
useless information or spam, people will stop following you
and will no longer get your messages.

Twitter is designed to be a rapid, short messaging system
to let people know what you are up to (similar to the
"what I am doing now" facility on Facebook).

Do not expect everyone that you follow to follow you in
turn ... and do not follow too many people or you will lose focus.

You can even twitter from your cell phone and Twitter
interfaces with Facebook and other social networking sites.

It is a great way to learn what the "experts" are up to and
to get to know something about them personally.

Check out the right-hand column of this blog for my latest
"tweets" and you will begin to see the potential of this social
networking site.

Video Promotions Made Easy

I recently took 26 photos on my walk in the rainforest
on Mt. Glorious in Brisbane. These photos have become
the basis of a new Squidoo lens and animated music video.

Tropical Rainforest Squidoo Lens

With the Squidoo lens, I wanted to create a sense of walking
through the rainforest surrounded by the sights of this timeless
place:

http://www.squidoo.com/tropicalrainforest

Each photo module contains a picture that is 500px (width)
by 375px (height) (which fits perfectly in the module frame).

The process I used to create the photo modules was:

  1. load the photos to a folder on my computer
  2. load the images from the computer to Flickr
  3. click on a photo on Flickr to display the 500X375 image
  4. save the enlarged image to my computer
  5. upload the images to my website
  6. add each image to a module, hyperlinked to my authority lens
The result is a sequence of enlarged images that give you a sense
of walking the path amongst the tropical rainforest plants.

Creating an Animated Music Video

Well, creating the Tropical Rainforest lens was exciting but
developing the animated music video was something else:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5GFirR6mTo

This proved to be a breeze using the latest in video
technology from Animoto:

http://animoto.com/?ref=tzolcekr

(If you use the link, you get discounted access at the rate of
$25 per year for unlimited videos; you can make 30 second
videos for free but then you can’t download them).

The steps here are:

  1. upload images to Animoto.com
  2. identify the two or three images you want to highlight
  3. decide what music track you want (yours or theirs)
  4. press “create video”
  5. upload to your computer and/or YouTube (press a button)
  6. press remix as often as you like to make alternative videos
  7. admire your handywork

Animoto has their own stock of images which you can purchase
or you can use your own photos or free images from other
sources.

I also used Kevin Riley’s 97 page ebook which gives you
a screenshot by screenshot description of how to create
your animated music video. The ebook helps you to identify
appropriate keywords and sources (free and paid) for images
and provides detailed guidance on how to create and upload
your music video:

Recipe for Quick and Easy Production of Hot Promo Videos

(Note: The Animoto affiliate program does not provide income
for the affiliate marketer. What it does do is give your referrals
a $5 discount and extends your "paid" access to video creation
by 3 months per referral. You are also able to load your own
photos to Animoto's stock and earn commissions from the
sale of your photos.)

Squidoo Traffic Tactic 1: Use the Squidoo Fan Club

Squidoo recently introduced the concept of the Fan Club.

If you like the work of a Squidoo Lensmaster you can join
their Fan Club by simply clicking on the Fan Club link
which appears in the upper right hand corner below the
Lensmaster's name.

Be genuine about this but make use of its potential.
Margaret Schaut, a top Lensmaster, has joined the
Fan Club of over 2,000 Lensmasters.

What you have to be aware of is that when you join
someone's Squidoo Fan Club, you will receive
their SquidCasts (see my Squdoo Directory}.

Here's a strategy to quickly join the Fan Club
of many Squidoo Lensmasters.

1. Log in to your Squidoo Dashboard
2. Visit the lens of a prominent Squidoo Lensmaster
3. Join their Fan Club if you have not already done so.
4. Click on the photo of one of their fans
5. Click "join this fanclub" (below their profile)
6. Click "Yes, Continue" or "No Thanks"
7. Repeat (...you can continue where you land).

In the process, you will come across some fantastic
Lensmasters and great lenses. Stop off to visit and
leave a comment (with a link to your lens).
