Why I Love Affiliate Marketing - Part 1 - Jimmy D. Brown

NOTE: The following is a guest post from one of my
favorite internet marketing mentors. I have just completed
a 12 month training course on membership sites with Jimmy
and it was full of value. There was so much in it that I can
continue to extract learning from it over many months.

By Jimmy D. Brown of "Affiliatenaire"

Do you find yourself "starting" to create your own product
to sell online, but never "finishing" it?

One of the things I love about affiliate marketing is --

** You don't need to create your own products **

Many people find the idea of creating their own products to
be an overwhelming and even paralyzing task.

* I don't have any good ideas!
* I'm not a writer!
* There's too much competition!
* I don't know how to set everything up!
* I can't figure out where to start!
* It's too hard!

These are just a few of the valid reasons many people give
when it comes to not creating their own products to sell.
I'm sure with a few minutes of brainstorming, we could come
up with a list of many more.

With affiliate marketing, you don't need your own products.
You simply promote someone else's already proven successful
offer for a commission.

And, truth be told, even if you ARE a writer and you DO have
lots of ideas and you CAN figure it all out...

** Nobody wants to create new products all the time **

As good as you may be, you don't know everything! Why try
to create a product on every topic imaginable in your
market when you can earn just as much money by simply
promoting someone else's really good offer as one of your
profit streams?

That's why I love affiliate marketing.

You don't need to create your own products.

The Joy of Squidoo - Squidoo recipes

Megan Casey and Seth Godin produced their e-Book,
The Joy of Squidoo, as a cookbook of ideas for
Squidoo lenses.

Here's their take on the e-Book:

The idea for this cookbook is very simple. Once you
see how creatively (and
successfully) other people
use Squidoo, you’ll be more likely to use it well yourself.

That’s why people watch The Food Network, after all.
To get inspired by the tasty
possibilities.

The Joy of Squidoo gives you a bit of background, some
Squidoo groundrules and principles, and then a list of 26
examples (recipes) of how Squidoo can be used.

It is well worth a look to gain ideas and ways you can use
this marvellous platform to share your ideas, passions
and propensities.

Squidoo and PPC: free resources

In this post I provide access to free PPC training
resources and show how to use Squidoo lenses
as
high quality landing pages for PPC.

Affiliate Classroom (Anik Singal) has joined forces with
Amit Mehta to create PPC Classroom. For a short time,
they are making a heap of PPC training resources
available for free.

I joined Affiliate Classroom in September 2005.

Last year, Affiliate Classroom launched PPC Classroom
in association with Amit Mehta. I joined at that time
and can vouch for the quality of the resources provided.
They really show you step-by-step how to create
a profitable PPC campaign.

However, PPC Classroom 1.0 was closed after 1,000
subscribers to enable personalized support to be
maintained (... it sold out very quickly).

PPC CLassroom 2.0 has now launched with a free
training option. To access these PPC resources

If you join up for free now, you can have access to:

1. A full DVD interview with the author of
PPC Classroom, Amit Mehta.

2. The ENTIRE PPC CLassroom Course (9 Modules)
for a month, with nothing held back.

3. Free ticket to the PPC Classroom LIVE event in
Las Vegas (May 28-30).

4. Free Templates and Over $3,197 in FREE Bonuses.

CLICK HERE to access these resources.

Squidoo and PPC

Squidoo lenses provide a significant advantage as PPC
landing pages because they can attract a high
"quality score".

To see why this happens check out my article on
Ezinearticles.com:

Squidoo: create a free report for traffic and income

Free reports are a great list building tool and
can also generate profits through direct advertising
and sales from your resultant mailing list.

Most top internet marketers use free reports to
build their mailing lists. The attraction of such
reports has increased with the global economic
downturn as people are looking for free or cheap
sources of information.

You need to provide quality information in your
report but not the total answer. You can provide
additional information via an email course or
ongoing updates.

PLR articles and reports can be re-cycled to create
the report or you can develop it from scratch. One of
the quicker ways to develop you own original free
reports is to bundle your own articles into an e-book
on a specific niche topic area.

Income can be earned by including advertising of
your own products or affiliate products. The key here
is not to overdo the advertising (usually placed on the
last/first page rather than throughout).

You can also sell advertising space in your e-book to
other merchants/internet marketers.

Once you have created your free report you can then
advertise it through your relevant Squidoo lens (lenses)
and provide links to the sign-up page for the free report.
The lens can also serve as "pre-sell copy" for the report
by establishing your credibility. You can link the report
to your lens for further lens traffic.

There are heaps of benefits in free reports, not the least
of which is the income flow from your resultant mailing
list.

There are many free programs that will enable you to
convert a Microsoft Word document to a PDF e-book.

Here's one that I consistently use (PDF995):

Squidoo: targeting the first page of Google for mutiple keywords

I have written previously about the benefits of Squidoo
in terms of deep indexing of Squidoo lenses by Google.
I have also identified strategies to encourage this deep
indexing.

What I want to address here are ways to broaden your
Google presence by expanding the keywords that you
target. These strategies have enabled me to get on the
first page of Google for multiple keywords for the one
Squidoo lens.

After you have established a presence on Google for
your primary keyword, you can target other selected
keywords one at a time. You may even choose to
target keywords that have a higher search volume
than your primary keyword. I have done this
successfully in the past.

So here is the basic strategy:

1. Use your new targeted keyword as your anchor text
for hyperlinks in blog comments, Squidoo lens comments,
etc.

2. Write blog posts incorporating your targeted keyword
and use the following format as the title for your post:
Targeted Keyword: rest of post title
(e.g. Golden Retriever Dog Training: the benefits of
the crate method)

3. Write and publish articles incorporating your
targeted keyword and have a title similar to the one
above:
Targeted keyword: rest of article title
(e.g. Golden Retriever Dog Training: taming the
retriever instinct)

I adopted the above strategy when I discovered
that my lens did not appear in the first 100 pages
of results for an important keyword. Now 5 0f the
top 10 ten results for this keyword are my links
- my Squidoo lens, blog posts or articles.

P.S. For info on Golden Retriever Dog Training

Squidoo lensrank: improve lensrank with a blog feed

One key way to improve lensrank and Google PR for
your Squidoo lens is to establish a blog and enter the
blog feed on your lens.

You use the RSS module for this so that whenever you
update the blog, your lens is also updated. Of course,
the blog has to be relevant to the content of the lens.

Daily updating and publishing of your blog and the
relevant lens will result in improved PR ranking
for the blog and enhanced lensrank for the lens.

I recently experimented with a lens and related blog.
I updated both daily. The lens went from 800,000+
rank to 17,000 in one week.

The Squidoo lens also attained a PR of 7 but dropped
to 5 when I stopped updating the blog on a daily basis.

So the moral of the story is to place an RSS feed for
your blog on your Squidoo lens and update both daily.

ClickBank: Ready Made Review Sites

Well, this beats outsourcing hands down in terms of
ease and speed to market.

ClickBank Ready Made Review Sites provides on
a monthly basis a review website for three top
selling ClickBank products.

The website provides a detailed review of each
ClickBank product with ratings together with an
opt-in box for your related newsletter. There is also
an option to incorporate video reviews in the site
and these are provided at a small extra monthly cost.

The reviews are professionally written and the website
is supported by a series of articles, email responder
messages (e-course), keywords list and blog list
(for adding comments). There are also professionally
written PPC ads provided with each review.

Each review site template also includes a page listing
20 top ClickBank internet marketing products and
articles related to the focus of the site.

Here's an example of a site I built with this program:
http://www.squidooaffiliatemarketing.com/howtoblog

You can see that the ClickBank Ready Made Review Sites
come with professionally designed headers, graphics and
website layout. The websites are optimized for the search
engines.

An added benefit is the auto-uploading tool which
loads your review site to your website with the
click of a button.

You can integrate these review sites with Squidoo affiliate
marketing by using the articles for Squidoo lenses,
providing sign-up options for the newsletter, and
incorporating the graphics.

If you utilise the ClickBank Review Sites in association
with the One Week Marketing Plan, you have a
complete marketing system.

The One Week Affiliate Marketing Plan was developed
by Giant Squid, PotPieGirl, and provides a unique
approach to marketing affiliate products on Squidoo.

I'm finding that the combination of the two approaches
with the content provided by the Ready Made Review
Sites provides a powerful marketing approach that can
be developed quickly and easily.

CLICK HERE to check out the Ready Made Review Sites
Program.

[Caveat: Ready Made Review Sites assumes you have
some knowledge of FTP and autoresponders]
