Article Writing: Massive Action for Massive Results

The more I read and hear about internet marketing
and affiliate marketing, the more I'm convinced
that real results come only with massive,
focused action.

I was reading Ewen Chia's FREE Super
Affiliate Blueprint
the other day and noted that
massive action is one of the key things that separate
the super affiliate marketers from you and me.

I recalled then that this certainly seems to
be a defining difference between those who achieve
substantial affiliate income and those who don't.

I was reminded of what I had read over the past year:
* the top bloggers blog three or four times a day
* the top Squidoo Lensmasters have over 100 lenses
* the top free ad experts submit to 100,000+ sites
* the top Adsense earners have 1,000 Adsense sites
* the top safelist earners submit to 60 safelists every day
* the top forum earners write 10 posts daily in forums
* the top social bookmarketers submit to 100's of sites daily
* the top viral ebook marketers produce 100's of ebooks

In the area of article marketing, the message is the same.
My friend, Jinger Jarrett, has had over 1,000,000 views
of her articles - numerous articles promoted in
numerous ways. The top article writers on
Ezinearticles.com produce over 3,000 articles.

On my morning walk today I listened to a conference call
by Maria Marsala, one of the pioneers of article
marketing she indicated that she used to submit to
400 article directories before she found
Article Marketer.
(Note: If you want a free lesson on how to
produce lots of articles fast, listen to her call here.)

Maria, and top affiliate marketers like
Tinu Abayomi-Paul, now use Article Marketer to
automatically submit their articles to thousands of
of websites and hundreds of directories.

I have just taken out a quarterly subscription to
Article Marketer (currently at a heavy discount).
This now allows me to submit unlimited articles
which in turn are auto-submitted to thousands
of websites. All I do is enter the article
information once - title, description, body,
category, keywords and resource box.
The program, Article Marketer, then does
the submission to multiple sites.

I purchased the quarterly membership because
I decided that I would take massive action on
two fronts this year:
1. article marketing
2. Squidoo (aim: 100 lenses)

I can link the articles to my lenses (promoting
my ecourses and my affiliate products/programs).
The traffic from the articles builds my lensrank,
my list, my Google ranking and my affiliate income.
There is certainly synergy in focusing on both
article marketing and Squidoo.

P.S. Don't forget the special discount at
Article Marketer ends soon. They'll even write
an article for you for free as a part of the deal.

Article Submission for Backlinks and Traffic

Everyday I receive reinforcement of the value of submitting
articles to Article Directories to create traffic, build my profile,
build my lensrank and PR and build my list.

It's a great list of benefits for a small amount of effort.
Even if you can't write articles, or don't want to spend time
writing them, you can access other people who will do it
for you. I'll show you how to do this easily and cheaply at the
end of this post.

The primary focus of this post is on how and
where to submit your articles.

Preparing your articles for submission

The process I use is to create the article in Microsoft Word
and then submit it in the first instance to EzineArticles.com

Some people suggest using NotePad because some symbols
used in Microsoft Word (e.g. "inverted commas") do not
convert well to the article directory databases. However, I
have a personal preference for Microsoft Word because it
is more user friendly and you can spell-check your article.

It is important not to use "hard returns" at the end of
lines- only use these at the end of paragraphs. When
writing an article on MsWord I also write the title,
summary or description and identify the keywords. This
makes cut and paste so much easier when you are
submitting your article.

I always submit my articles to EzineArticles .com in the
first instance. I know that once it is accepted there, it will
be accepted elsewhere. Also once the article is published by
EzineArticles.com, I find that I can just cut and paste from
their site to submit to other article directories and do so
without any format problems.

Where to submit articles

EzineArticles .com (PR6) is the king of article directories.
I have often found that an article published in
EzineArtilces.com will appear in the Top 10 Google results
for my keyword in a matter of days.

The downside is that this directory has human editors
who accept or reject your article or make recommendations
for changes. A lot of the other lesser directories use
computerised editing so their standards are not as strict.
However, if you follow the editorial guidelines with
EzineArticles.com you should have your article accepted.

Two key guidelines for this directory are:
- no pure promotion, article must be informative
(a common guideline)
- no direct affiliate links (this will vary with the directory)

The upside of EzineArticles.com is the extensive resource
base, their professionalism, search engine pulling power, their
html editor for bolding, etc, an RSS feed for your articles
(and articles by theme) and their Platinum level membership.

Once you have 10 articles submitted and accepted, you gain
Platinum membership which means you can submit as many
articles as you want and get priority editing and acceptance
(usually within two days ...and they stick by this!).

Other recommended article directories:

* GoArticles.com (PR 3) - allows direct affiliate links

* Searchwarp.com (PR3) - you can also submit your website

* ArticleCity.com (PR6)

* Marketing-seek.com (PR4)

Free article submitter

This is a professional article submitter that enables you to
auto-submit to 110 article directories. Write articles, link
them to your lens and then submit to directories...and watch
page 1 of Google for your keyword. Here's the link:
http://www.articlesubmitter.squidoomarketingstrategies.com/

Keeping track of article submissions

I use a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet to keep track of article
directories, usernames and passwords and submission dates
for each article.

Unlike EzineArticles.com, some article directories drop your
articles after a period of inactivity. You need to check
the article directories regularly to see how your articles are
going and which ones are attracting the most traffic.

Are You Building a Lens or a Business?

This is the question that Lee McIntyre asks in his recently
released e-book, Mailing Lists Unleashed
(note: not an affiliate link).

Lee makes the point as do other list building experts that
you need to leverage the present to build the future.

In other words, you should be focusing on building your list.

This means that your Squidoo lenses (the more the merrier)
should serve to capture subscribers to your email list.

The reason - the real income is not in the one-off sale
up front but the on-going sales from your list at the back end.

If you simply send visitors to affiliate managers' websites,
you are building their list and business, not your own.

It's a simple but profound concept. I've heard it one more
time but this time it seemed to have more impact. Lee
emphasizes the need to build a sustainable internet business.

Lee challenges many of the myths of list building. He argues
that the money is not in the size of the list but in the
relationship that you have with your subscribers.

He attacks the myth that you should not give your subscribers
lots of freebies because they will develop a "freebie mentality".
His own results from relatively small lists tend to contest
this viewpoint.

Lee's Mailing Lists Unleashed (80 pages) is full of sound,
practical advice about squeeze pages, confirmation pages and
relationship building. His step-by-step, honest approach is
really refreshing.

For instance he reiterates the importance of having your
squeeze page focused on benefits not features. He stresses the
need to ensure that the squeeze page highlights the sign-up box
and does not have distracting information or links.

After reading this e-book I realized that I have lots of work
to do to tidy up my squeeze page and improve my confirmation
page. Lee makes the point that a minor change can improve
your subscription rate immensely. Ten new subscribers a day
is a lot better than 3 or 4.

The other key thing that I have to do is to make sure that
all my lenses promote subscription to my list(s) which are
hosted on Aweber.

So far I have found that Aweber is the best autoresponder
for my mailing lists (after testing 5 others). Aweber's
service is outstanding.

Ewen Chia reinforces Lee's message. He suggests that effective
list building and relationship building are two key features
of Super Affiliates.

I would recommend that if you do nothing else, you visit Lee's
Mailing Lists Unleashed and sign up for his monthly email
newsletter (and associated freebies).

Product of the Month

Well this is not really a product in itself. During the week Dr. Mani
was promoting his "A Day for Hearts" designed to fund operations for
children with chronic heart disease. Dr. Mani recently retired as a
heart surgeon to devote himself to his very successful internet
marketing business and his Chronic Heart Disease Foundation.
Here's where you can save a child's life with a small donation:

Explode Your Squidoo Traffic with Social Marketing

There is a lot of discussion lately about social marketing
prompted in part by the work of Stompernet.com.

Many writers are now asserting that Squidoo should
be an integral part of your internet marketing strategy.

My considered view is that Squidoo should be an essential
element in your marketing mix. I see it now as a marketing
ring - a series of linked elements : Squidoo-articles-blog-
website-social (book) marketing sites. This results in a
certain synergy that no one element can achieve by itself.
The net effect is multi-directional, traffic flows.

Stompernet (Don Crowther) put out a landmark video and
report recently which is showing the massive impact
of social marketing. Rosalind Gardner, Super Affiliate,
responded by immediately saying that she has to rethink her
stance on social marketing sites like Facebook, etc and
give them more importance.

Here's the video:
http://www.stompernet.net/goingnatural2/

You can access the related pdf report by entering your
name and email on the video page.

Unwittingly, Don Crowther has highlighted my own dominance
of the keyword, "Squidoo Marketing Strategies" in the video
(around the 16th minute). At the time of the video, 8 of the
top ten results were linked to my sites - my ebook sales page,
my lenses, my blog, my articles or technorati tags.

We have to start thinking in terms of creating marketing
webs, rings or circles.

We are now in the era of "collaborative marketing",
"permission marketing" & "engagement marketing".
Our marketing strategies need to reflect
the "inter-linking" and "interactivity"
and "communal"
nature of this emerging era.

One-out strategies are a thing of the past!

Here's a great free resource to get started with
social bookmarking (tagging):

Pepperjam Network - affiliate marketing 2.0

As an affiliate marketer, you would have heard of, or interacted
with affiliate networks such as ClickBank, Amazon.com,
Commission Junction or Commission Monster (Australia).

Well, there is a new kid on the block that will change the
nature of affiliate networks and affiliate marketing.

It's the Pepperjam Network that uses 2.0 technology to provide
advertisers and affiliates with a clean, easy-to-use interface.

The Pepperjam Network is blazing a new trail through its
Transparency, Innovation and Personality.

No longer will advertisers (merchants) hide behind a faceless
affiliate network. Through the innovative PepperjamChat,
affiliates and advertisers can communicate with each other to build
sustainable partnerships.

Another innovation is the creation of pepperjamADS which is
a widget that will enable affiliates to serve customized contextual
ads from multiple Pepperjam Network advertisers.

The pro-affiliate network also provides a knowledge vault for
affiliates that gives exclusive access to tools and educational
resources used by super affiliates.

What I particularly like is the personality of the Pepperjam Network.
While this review is sponsored, I was very pleased to join the
Network as an affiliate to take a look inside.

Staff of the Pepperjam Network are progressively undergoing an
individual, impromptu video interview which is placed on YouTube
(over 100,000 views to date) ...and there are over 100 staff. Kris
Jones, the CEO, has even had an impromptu interview himself and
this models transparency and also shows that relationships
are valued..

I think that a CEO who goes out of his comfort zone and experiences
vulnerability speaks volumes. If the CEO is willing to be vulnerable
and learn, then you have the makings of a learning organisation...an
organisation that can only get even better.

The Pepperjam Network comes highly recommended by the likes of
Shawn Collins, Joel Comm and Anik Singal.

The network is free to join and even has an affiliate program that
pays.

Why not join up and take a look inside, you will be as amazed as
I was:

Leverage Your Writing and Google Ranking

Squidoo Affiliate Marketing:
How to Leverage
Your Writing and Achieve
Quick Google Indexing and a Top Position

Here I discuss a Product Review approach I used in
the last few days and the speedy results achieved.

Friday

1. Wrote an article on the Niche Video Site Builder in
the form of an explanation of the basic steps involved.

2. Submitted article to GoArticles.com (with
affiliate link in bio):
Video Sites: Create Your Own Niche Video Site

Saturday

3. Carved up the article into modules to create
a product review Squidoo lens which I published:
http://www.squidoo.com/reviewnichevideositebuilder

4. Submitted the lens URL to 300 search engines using
Ineedhits Easy Submit Service ($2.99)

5. Posted the article to my blog

6. Received $33.50 commission (50%) for the sale of
one copy of Niche Video Site Builder (affiliate program
available to purchasers only)

Sunday

7. Submitted article to Ezinearticles.com with Squidoo
lens link in author bio (no direct affiliate links allowed):
Video Sites: 6 Simple Steps to Create Your Own Niche Video Site

8. Google indexed my Squidoo lens and gave it
position No. 2 in the search results for my keyword.
(that's one day after submission!)

9. Updated and pinged my product review lens.

Monday

10. My lens achieved No. 1 position in Google.

This strategy can be easily copied and used by you to
promote any product or service. You are better placed
if you can write your review honestly as a user.

Note: When I publish this post it will appear
simultaneously on my affiliate marketing lens and in
my Facebook as an RSS feed and in BlogRush as a
text link ad in hundreds of blogs .

* This was my second sale - so I now have a script for
free that will enable me to create unlimited video sites.

Video Sites: 6 Simple Steps to Create Your Own Video Site

Why Create A Niche Video Site?

Videos are all the rage on the Internet at the moment. YouTube,
for example, gets twice the traffic of Google. How would you like
to create your own niche video site built from YouTube videos?
You can now buy a script that enables you to build unlimited
niche video sites.

A global research company, Comscore, recently stated that in a
typical month 35% of everyone who goes online worldwide visit
YouTube (Source: Stompernet.com). Social media sites are growing
exponentially – almost doubling every six months. So the trend is
up … and video consumers are at the core of this new growth.

What is a Niche Video Site?

There are a number of software developers who have recently
developed scripts to enable anyone to build their own niche video site
with free videos drawn from YouTube. These scripts enable you to
build as many niche video sites as you want. The scripts are
easy-to-use, designed for the average internet marketer and allow
you to build a site in minutes.

The niche video sites draw on YouTube’s vast video library on
the basis of a tag (keyword) that you determine as your site focus.
The script also provides a search facility to enable visitors to search
YouTube on any other tag/keyword they desire. The script can be
easily edited to add AdSense advertising, affiliate product ads
(such as for ClickBank) and links to other websites,
Squidoo lenses or blogs.

The following steps are based on the script provided by
the Niche Video Site Builder.

Six Basic Steps to Create a Niche Video Site:

1. Identify a competitive keyword

The video sites draw on YouTube videos that are tagged with the
identified keyword. So the first step is to identify a
high search/low competition keyword in the area of your interest
(the “Bum Marketing” method).

2. Locate an affiliate program or product

The niche video site scripts enable you to add your own affiliate
products or programs through banners, text links or block ads
such as those provided by BetterTextAds or FavAds. You need
to identify programs or products that fit into the theme of the
video site you are creating. Of course, sometimes you will start
with the product or program and then determine the desired
keywords.

3. Purchase a domain name to match your tag/keyword

Video sites that have a domain name that matches their core
keyword tend to receive higher rankings in Google (all things
being equal). A matching domain name also helps to orientate
the visitor to the focus and content of the video site.

4. Purchase hosting for your new domain

You need to obtain a reliable host that provides you with
ample capacity to store the files and manage the volume
of visitors. I recommend Hostgator for this purpose as I know
it works very well with the Niche Video Site Builder script.

5. Edit the files in the script

This is a lot simpler than first appears. Usually there are only
two or three files you need to edit via Notepad to change the
information to your own. For example, you need to replace
the existing AdSense ID with your own. You may want to add
an affiliate product banner at the top of the site or insert block
ads in the sidebar (to replace the AdSense ads), and this can be
done by inserting the html code provided by the relevant
affiliate program owner. Niche Video Site Builder comes with
videos that explain every step.

6. FTP the edited files to your website host

This can be done very easily and quickly by FTP programs
such as FileZilla which is readily available at no cost.

Summary

Video sites and video watching are exploding on the Internet
and now is the time to get ahead of the unprecedented growth
which is occurring at an accelerating rate. Scripts are now
available that let you quickly and easily build multiple video
sites for one relatively small outlay.
