Squidoo Marketing Strategies : ping your Squidoo lens to the top of Google's listings
Yesterday one of the participants in my Squidoo Marketing
Strategies e-mail course asked a very legitimate question
that proved to be beneficial to him and to me.
Here's the question:"Which keywords have you got onto the
first page of Google for? (I don't remember seeing any squidoo
lens come up when I have been searching.)"
I indicated that a search for "affiliate marketing coach" showed
my lens of the same name at No. 8 position (out of 1,220,000
search results). My blog held positions 1 & 2.
I was surprised that my squidoomarketingsecrets lens was not
showing in Google's list for searches of the same name. So I did
a test that you can do.
I entered the full url of my Squidoo lens in the Google search box
- and the result? Google could not recognise the page.
That night, I submitted my lens to the search engines using a fr^e
auto-submitter. The very next day my squidoomarketingstrategies
lens was No. 1 on Google for the keyword of the same name
(out of 936,000 results).
So here are the steps:
1. submit your Squidoo lens to the search engines:
http://www.ineedhits.com
(fr^e submitter)
2. make an entry on your Squidoo lens
3. publish your changed lens
4. ping the search engines:
http://www.pingoat.com/
(fr^e pinging service)
Repeat steps 2-4 regularly.
P.S. For the full story on how to get a top Google
position for your Squidoo lens, get a copy of my e-Book:

Squidoo Marketing Strategies: generate Technorati tags
Wikipedia describes Technorati as "an Internet search engine
for searching blogs, competing with Google, Yahoo and
IceRocket".
Tagging is a way of associating keywords with information
- text, videos, pictures, etc. It is very much linked to the
emergence of Web 2 technology such as Squidoo, Flickr and
YouTube.
By creating Technorati tags in your blog posts and your
Squidoo lens, you are:
1. creating a backlink to a highly ranked site (Google has given
Technorati a ranking of 7)
2. generating traffic from Technorati (via the tags)
3. improving the Google ranking of your blog/Squidoo lens.

Squidoo Marketing Strategies: Create a lens ring with Squidoo's Lensroll
The Lensroll facility created by Squidoo enables you
to link other lenses to your own lens.
Here are the steps:
a. log into your own lens
b. find a lens of interest (use the search box at the
top, if necessary)
c. click the Lensroll button in the save and share box
on the right
d. use the drop down menu to choose the lens to receive
the link
e. click the continue button.
You should start this process by linking your own lenses
first (if you have more than one lens). In this way you
create a lens ring by linking your Squidoo
lenses to each other.
Squidoo has its own protocol for ranking lenses and it
is different to that of Google and other search engines.
For example, Squidoo rewards external links and links to
other Squidoo sites that are related to your lens theme.
Squidoo rewards you for actions you take that help build
the Squidoo community.

Squidoo Takes The World By Storm
Squidoo is a new Web 2.0 technology developed by leading
internet marketer and blogger, Seth Godin.
It combines the best of MySpace, Flickr and YouTube
and builds on these technologies. It is being touted as the
nextYouTube.
Seth Godin developed Squidoo to overcome the problem
of the poor quality results that frequently occur with
searches in major search engines. Squidoo is designed
by an internet marketer for internet marketers.
Squidoo lenses are very easy to develop and you can develop
a lens (in-depth, focused web page) on any topic. You can
have as many lenses as you like.
Squidoo started in October 2005 and now has over 100,000
lenses and Squidoo.com has a Google ranking of 7. Its
Alexa ranking was 693 on 26 March 2007 (up 378 places
in 3 months).
Leading internet marketers like Joel Comm have recognised
the value of Squidoo by creating their own Squidoo lenses.
Squidoo provides income and traffic:
* Squidoo returns 50% of the direct revenue from your
lenses (revenue from Adsense, eBay, Amazon.com, etc.)
* you can earn from referring others
* you can promote your own products/services/affiliate
programs on your lenses
* backlinks from Squidoo to your own website/blog
will increase your Google ranking
* Squidoo itself is a search engine and generates traffic
to your lens based on your lens ranking
* Google appears to value Squidoo lenses even more highly
than blogs (people are reporting rapid top ten listings of
their Squidoo lenses)
* you can establish yourself as an expert in an area very
quickly.
You can join Squidoo and set up your lens here:
