Squidoo Marketing Strategies: Submit your lens for Lens of the Day

I recently submitted my Squidoo Marketing Strategies Lens
to the Lens of the Day Competition.

I did'nt make it first time up but my lens is under review for
the future. This gives me a goal to work towards.

So there is the first benefit - your lens get noticed.

If you are chosen for Lens of the Day you will get great
exposure and lots of traffic. Many people subscribe to the
daily notification of Lens of the Day and visit the ones that
interest them.

There is a link to the Lens of the Day Blog in the menu at the
end of each lens. This takes you to the blog where each Lens
of the Day is introduced. There is also a link for submission
of your lens.

One of the things I learned by observing others is that it is
very wise to add a comment with your lens submission
explaining what the lens is about and/or why you enjoy
Squidoo.

I added a comment in my submission recently and Megan
Casey published it in the SquidBlog with a link to encourage
people to contribute to my Poll on "Why I Love Squidoo":
http://www.squidoo.com/blog/?p=146

This generated a lot of traffic for me and improved my lens
rank.

You can add your vote to my poll at:

Squidoo Marketing Strategies: Use Squidoo to leverage your writing

In one of my articles I explained ways to leverage
your writing:
Leverage Your Writing to Increase Your Affiliate Income

Squidoo adds a whole new dimension to this approach.

Here's a process I used recently to leverage my writing via
Squidoo:

A. Setting up the RSS feed

1. Create a RSS module in your target Squidoo lens

2. Enter the RSS feed URL of your blog/website in this module

B. Make a blog/website post

The source for this could be a new fr^e resource you
received, a forum posting you made, an insight you
gained or even a response you wrote to a prospect's question.

C. Edit your target lens

1. Add a tag or two to reflect the blog entry

2. (Re-) Publish you lens

D. Ping the search engines

Ping the search engines for your lens and your
blog

E. Advise your mailing list of the new posting

You can incorporate your post in an email to your
mailing list. Alternatively, you can provide the post
title and link - this way people will visit your blog
or website (and this is a good thing!).

When you publish your lens, the blog post will automatically
appear in your RSS module.

So, with one piece of writing, you have updated your blog or
website, updated your lens, kept the search engines and your
subscribers happy, boosted your lensrank and helped the
Google ranking/listing for your blog and your lens.

If you have another related lens (as I have), you can also
enter the link of the blog post, if it is one that is relevant to
the other lens. You can then ping this lens after
re-publishing.

For example:
1. I do my original post in this blog
2. my affiliate marketing coach lens gets updated via RSS
3. I enter the post link in my squidoo marketing strategies
lens in the relevant links module
4. I can then ping all three.

Squidoo Marketing Strategies : ping your Squidoo lens to the top of Google's listings

Yesterday one of the participants in my Squidoo Marketing
Strategies e-mail course
asked a very legitimate question
that proved to be beneficial to him and to me.

Here's the question:"Which keywords have you got onto the
first page of Google for? (I don't remember seeing any squidoo
lens come up when I have been searching.)"

I indicated that a search for "affiliate marketing coach" showed
my lens of the same name at No. 8 position (out of 1,220,000
search results). My blog held positions 1 & 2.

I was surprised that my squidoomarketingsecrets lens was not
showing in Google's list for searches of the same name. So I did
a test that you can do.

I entered the full url of my Squidoo lens in the Google search box
- and the result? Google could not recognise the page.

That night, I submitted my lens to the search engines using a fr^e
auto-submitter. The very next day my squidoomarketingstrategies
lens was No. 1 on Google for the keyword of the same name
(out of 936,000 results).

So here are the steps:

1. submit your Squidoo lens to the search engines:
http://www.ineedhits.com
(fr^e submitter)

2. make an entry on your Squidoo lens

3. publish your changed lens

4. ping the search engines:
http://www.pingoat.com/
(fr^e pinging service)

Repeat steps 2-4 regularly.

P.S. For the full story on how to get a top Google
position for your Squidoo lens, get a copy of my e-Book:

Squidoo Marketing Strategies: generate Technorati tags

Wikipedia describes Technorati as "an Internet search engine
for searching blogs, competing with Google, Yahoo and
IceRocket".

Tagging is a way of associating keywords with information
- text, videos, pictures, etc. It is very much linked to the
emergence of Web 2 technology such as Squidoo, Flickr and
YouTube.

By creating Technorati tags in your blog posts and your
Squidoo lens, you are:

1. creating a backlink to a highly ranked site (Google has given
Technorati a ranking of 7)
2. generating traffic from Technorati (via the tags)
3. improving the Google ranking of your blog/Squidoo lens.

If you want to know more about Technorati tags visit the link
below:
http://support.technorati.com/support/siteguide/tags

Here is a great tool that will generate the html
for your Technorati tags. All you do is specify the
tags and the site will generate the html for you:

This site will also generate tags for other bookmarking
sites such as Digg, Del.icio.us, Yahoo, BlinkList, Spurl,
Reddit and Furl.

The Technorati tags below were generated with this tool.
